HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation provides training in Oxygen use, advanced airway management and resuscitation techniques.

This course will provide you with Advanced Resuscitation Techniques, including the use of oxygen and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Although not required, it is generally recommended that participants complete our First Aid course and use this as additional or higher level training in oxygen equipment and specialist resuscitation techniques.

Who Should Complete an Advanced Resuscitation Course First Aid Course?

HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation formerly known as HLTAID007 is an emergency first aid response course that will teach you how to suction an airway, use bag valve mask ventilation in cardiac arrest and deliver oxygen therapy to hypoxic patients in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. Sometimes known as oxygen providers courses or divers training course as this course is used extensively by diving trainers, scuba trainees or in Industry or organisations who have responsibility for large gatherings or public events. Understanding lifesaving advanced skills is an important workplace on-site first aid skill to help in an emergency, or before the ambulance arrives.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisite 

Please note: This course has a prerequisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This means that before you can attend this course, you must attend and complete a Provide First Aid HLTAID011 course. (HLTAID003 is not accepted). This is due to a national training package update. If you have already completed Provide First Aid HLTAID011 you will need to supply your certificate to us as soon as possible. If you have not completed this prerequisite course, you will need to book and attend a course prior to completing  Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy HLTAID015.

You will need to have sufficient English language skills to complete the competency based first aide training.

Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian when they attend training.

Advanced Resuscitation Training

We are a local independent training company that provides work cover approved first aid courses and first aid refresher training locally. Like The Red Cross St John Ambulance and Surf Lifesaving, we are fully regulated by The Australian Government’s Skills Quality Authority (ASQEA) to provide the health, safety and emergency first aid qualifications we deliver.

Our training courses are recognised by the Royal Australian College Of General Practitioners (RACGP QI&CPD program, Austswim and all national bodies as the required standard for education and care setting first aid training in Australia.

We can also tailor training to your specific needs. e.g. Major bleeding and arterial stop the bleed programs, medical professionals like dental surgeries, Doctors and medical staff, aged and childcare disability support workers, CASPA, nursing students PEPs etc.  Because we are health professionals, we work well together.

Our regulation is through this national government accreditation body to provide professional courses and accredited qualifications. Whether you are refreshing past first aid training or attempting first aid certification for the first time, our course is recognised nationally as the standard requirement.

Is Your Course a Nationally Recognised Qualification?

HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation is a Nationally Recognised qualification that will give you the skills and knowledge required in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. You will develop the confidence to effectively manage an airway and administer oxygen, perform first aid, manage an unconscious patient and use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to administer the required shocks to a patient who has stopped breathing and requires life-saving treatment and how to manage emergencies until the ambulance arrives. The Assessment Process

We use a range of assessment methods to gather evidence of your knowledge and applied skills for this unit. The assessment methods may include multiple choice questions, short written answers and practical activities. On enrolment in you will be provided with access to International Paramedic College’s course learning materials; it is expected that you have read and understood the content prior to starting the assessments. On enrolment, you will be provided with a login to our student portal to access online assessment tasks. We understand that this may not suit everybody and so paper based assessments will be provided on the day of your practical training if required.

Physical Requirements

If you suffer an allergy to latex products, please advise us. Practical activities involve training scenarios conducted at floor level and contact with other students/instructors. Please wear suitable clothing

CPR is a rigorous physical activity requiring you to compress the chest of a manikin downwards about a third of the chest depth continuously at 100 to 120 times a minute for a continuous period of 2 minutes. This requires a level of endurance, strength and fitness appropriate to this task. If you have current physical injuries, medical problems or limitations, please discuss this with your trainer. It is important that you don’t injure yourself or exacerbate an existing condition in training.

Reasonable Adjustment – Learning Difficulties

Enrolment in this training requires participants to provide details on any learning or physical difficulties which may impact on their training outcomes. This may include any language, literacy or numeracy issues.

Students may also discuss any special needs with your assessor, who may be able to make any required, reasonable adjustment to the assessments to meet these needs. Please note the requirements under physical activity below.

Reasonable adjustment may include access to paper-based assessments due to technical or access issues to online assessment systems.

Please note, to be deemed competent you must be physically able to perform the following (these requirements cannot be changed):

Uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult manikin placed on the floor

Uninterrupted CPR infant manikin placed on a firm surface.

Perform at least 2 minutes of bag-valve-mask ventilation and at least 2 minutes of compression on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor

Requirements for Completion

You must attend 100% of this training and satisfactorily complete all the competency based assessment tasks.

Certification and Course Validity

After you successfully complete the first aid training and assessment activities, you will be issued a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment in

HLTAID009 Provide CPR The certification is valid for one (1) year from date of issue.

HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation. The certification is valid for one (1) year from date of issue.

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and workplaces codes of practice recommend CPR refresher training should be undertaken yearly and First Aid every 3 years.

Our comprehensive student management system will send you a reminder message an about 1 month before your certificate is due to be renewed.

Unique Student Identifier Number (USI)

From 1 January 2015 anyone undertakes nationally recognised training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have not yet applied for a USI, you will need to do so prior to attending training with us. To apply or to check if you already have a USI number is a very quick and painless online process at the Australian Government website https://www.usi.gov.au/. Follow the prompts as a student. If you require help in obtaining one, please contact the office. If you are unable or choose not to provide a USI, or have an exemption granted under the Student Identifiers Act 2014,  then your training outcome will not be recorded on your USI account and will not be available in future years as part of the authenticated USI transcript service. Important course information – Please Read

If you need to make any changes to your practical course date for CPR and First Aid type courses, a $35 admin fee will apply if you fail to provide 3 days notice by email or make multiple changes. If you are unable to attend for any reason, fees, and charges may be applied as per our Payments, refunds, and cancellation policy available here. Any request to change your course booking, must be done by email to training@internationalparamediccollege.com.au
