Privacy policy
International Paramedic College (IPC) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and store personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.


Legislative framework and compliance
International Paramedic College complies with:
- The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
- The Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012 (Cth)
- The 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
- The Data Provision Requirements 2012
- The Standards for RTOs 2025 (Standard 8, Clause 8.1)
IPC is also required to securely retain certain student records for 30 years in accordance with AVETMISS and regulatory requirements.
What personal information we collect
For the purposes of this policy, personal information includes both personal and sensitive information.
Personal information may include:
- Contact details
- Employment details
- Educational background
- Demographic information
- Records of training and assessment
Sensitive information may include:
- Identity records
- Human resources information
- Disability or welfare recipient status (where relevant to complaints or appeals)
- Cultural background
- Background checks
How we collect personal information
IPC will:
- Collect personal information only where it directly relates to our role as an RTO or training provider
- Collect information directly from the individual or their authorised representative
- Take reasonable steps to ensure information is accurate, current and complete
- Update information when notified it is incorrect or out of date
In some limited circumstances where identification is not legally required, individuals may choose to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym. However, this may limit IPC’s ability to provide services.
Why we collect and use personal information
IPC collects personal information for the following purposes:
- AVETMISS mandatory reporting
- Issuing certificates and statements of attainment
- Collecting and verifying Unique Student Identifiers (USIs)
- Providing education and training services
- Communicating with learners and stakeholders
- Obtaining feedback on services
- Reporting to funding bodies
- Marketing support services
- Managing staff records
Personal information is only used for the purpose it was collected, or for directly related purposes.
Disclosure of personal information
IPC may disclose personal information to:
- Commonwealth, State or Territory government departments
- Authorised regulatory agencies
- The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER)
- Funding bodies
- Training partners delivering services on IPC’s behalf
Any third-party providers engaged by IPC are contractually required to comply with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy legislation.
NCVER and VET data reporting
Under the Data Provision Requirements 2012, IPC is required to collect and disclose student information to NCVER.
Personal information disclosed to NCVER may be used for:
- Populating authenticated VET transcripts
- Statistical analysis and research
- Pre-populating enrolment forms
- Workforce planning and consumer information
- Administration, monitoring and evaluation of VET programs

NCVER manages personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988, the National VET Data Policy, and its own published policies.
Student surveys
Students may be contacted to participate in surveys administered by NCVER, government departments, or authorised contractors. Participation is optional, and students may opt out at the time of contact.
Storage, security and retention
IPC takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from:
- Loss or misuse
- Unauthorised access
- Modification or disclosure
Personal information is stored securely and destroyed or de-identified when no longer required, unless retention is required by law.
Access to and correction of personal information
Individuals may request lawful access to their personal information in accordance with IPC’s Record Keeping Policy. Requests for correction will be addressed where information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
Use of images and marketing material
IPC will only use personal images for advertising, promotion or other public purposes where written consent has been obtained.
Complaints and privacy concerns
Any complaint regarding the handling of personal information must be managed through IPC’s Complaints and Appeals Policy, which is publicly available via the website and Student Handbook.
Evidence of compliance
The following records are retained as evidence of compliance with Standard 8:
- Student records
- Pre-enrolment information
- Marketing and communication materials
Privacy declaration by enrolling students
By enrolling with IPC, students declare that the information they provide is true and correct to the best of their knowledge, and consent to the collection and disclosure of their information as required under the Data Provision Requirements 2012.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect legislative or operational changes. The most current version will always be available on the IPC website.
