FAQs

Below, we’ve answered common NSW-specific queries about our first aid and CPR courses.

Is my first aid certificate valid across New South Wales?

Yes. All IPC first aid and CPR courses are nationally recognised, meaning your certification is valid throughout New South Wales and across Australia. Once issued, it can be used for employment, volunteering, compliance, or further training, regardless of where you completed the practical session.

Can I complete a first aid course online if I live in NSW?

Partially, yes. IPC offers online first aid courses in NSW with flexible online theory. However, nationally recognised first aid units require a face-to-face practical assessment, which you’ll complete at an approved NSW training location or during a workplace session.

Which NSW industries require first aid training?

First aid training is commonly required across NSW for:

  • Childcare and education
  • Construction and trades
  • Hospitality and events
  • Community and disability services
  • Workplaces with WHS obligations

IPC courses are designed to meet these real-world compliance needs without unnecessary extras.

How often do I need to renew first aid or CPR in NSW?

In most NSW workplaces:

  • CPR (HLTAID009) is renewed annually
  • First Aid (HLTAID011/HLTAID012) is renewed every 3 years

Your employer or governing body may have stricter requirements, so IPC provides clear guidance at enrolment.

Do I need prior experience to enrol in a first aid course in NSW?

No experience is required. IPC’s first aid training in NSW is suitable for beginners, returning students, and experienced workers alike. All practical skills are demonstrated and assessed on the day, with trainer support throughout the session.
