What is the HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set?

The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set is the skill set industry endorses for people working in, or moving into, a nominated occupational first aider role. It goes further than a standard first aid course. You learn to respond to serious incidents with advanced first aid and oxygen, and you learn to set up, maintain and coordinate first aid across a whole workplace.

A first aider at an office and an occupational first aider at a mine site or factory carry very different responsibilities. This skill set is built for the second role, where there may be no ambulance for a while and someone has to own the site’s first aid plan, kits and records.

  • Four nationally recognised units in one skill set
  • Online learning plus face-to-face practical sessions
  • Covers both emergency response and first aid management
